What is a Masterclass

What is a Masterclass

What is a Masterclass

Why the Masterclass Format?

2Win delivers virtual coaching for our asynchronous workshops in a masterclass format. Masterclass is a highly effective skill development format used in the performing arts community for almost 200 years. We took the best elements of a masterclass and adapted the approach for virtual adult learners. Students complete self-paced lessons and skill-building exercises via our online learning platform and then attend virtual Masterclass coaching sessions to receive coaching and feedback.

Our clients appreciate the masterclass approach because it enables teams to stay in the field without traveling for enablement. This keeps team members engaged with clients while they learn and practice new skills. Plus, participants benefit from 50 to 75% more coaching time than an in-person workshop since the learning elements are delivered via self-paced video.

Putting it all Together

Breaking Down How 2Win Masterclasses Run

A 2Win Masterclass is comprised of two distinct parts; 1. the completion of self-paced online learning and 2. attending masterclass coaching sessions. The total time commitment for a 2Win Masterclass workshop is about 15 hours over 4 or 5 days (Monday to Thursday or Friday), depending on the workshop and your needs. Participants spend 2 hours each day in their masterclass coaching sessions, receiving coaching and feedback from 2Win coaches. The remaining ~5 hours are spent completing the online learning and exercises. Each day, participants are expected to complete 60 to 90 minutes of self-paced homework in preparation for the next day's coaching session. Homework includes video lessons and exercises that can be done at the learner's own pace so they can work around business commitments while maximizing attention and retention.

Participants are provided opportunities to practice and demonstrate the newly learned skills to the class individually or in small groups. The facilitator and other participants provide positive and constructive feedback. Participants benefit from observing the feedback others receive and have opportunities to ask in-depth questions.

Large-Group Coaching

In the daily masterclass coaching sessions, participants meet as a large group. Several volunteers role play the day's exercise and receive feedback from the 2win coach. The volunteers receive director-style feedback. This is an interrupt-driven approach where the coach identifies a technique and discusses how to improve. The volunteer then applies the feedback, refining the volunteer’s skillset, allowing the observers to experience the difference from the audience's point of view. This encourages experiential learning and prepares participants for their breakout sessions.

Small-Group Coaching

Following the large group session, participants are placed in virtual breakout rooms to review the exercises in smaller groups. They role play their exercise, receive feedback from their peers, and provide feedback on the role plays delivered by others. The 2Win Coach visits each breakout room and facilitates feedback and looks for coachable moments to share with the large group. We focus on a single key skill per day and ensure concepts are more firmly established before moving to the next day's lesson.

Skill Execution

By the end of the week we see lasting change as participants have had multiple days to put their skills to work and continue to refine their execution. Coaches differentiate this feedback based on the skill level demonstrated and our goal is to ensure that all participants fully understand the concepts. Coaches then move on to more advanced concepts connected to the program objectives, making the experience valuable for both new hires and experts.

The final session culminates in either a demonstration, presentation, or role-play, where participants must integrate all of the week's learning into their final exercise, and the 2Win coach leads a highly targeted feedback session that involves all participants, ensuring the key elements of the course are understood and reinforced.

Real-Life Role Play

2Win training provides immediately applicable skills and tactics. This is why we require students to use real-life opportunities as the basis for completing all the skill building exercises that resulting role plays. The role plays mimic real-life engagements, and often, when teams conduct Masterclasses, they are working on a sale in their pipeline. These learnings can be immediately applied to their next client interaction, which is why we see such high success rates from our courses.
